A Labor Of Love

The client's favorite view is the front lawn in the winter, when the shadows from the moon lighting shining through the canopies of the majestic oaks create a lacelike pattern on the freshly fallen snow. This gentle application throughout the design satisfied their vision to tastefully honor the atmosphere they had created. We assessed the grade changes, waterways, and moving train system to pull together a cohesive, cozy design aesthetic.

We even incorporated some of their existing fixtures! Key to success were minimal path and overhead lighting to make walkways and sitting areas functional for their active family. Accent-lit trees and down lights on the buildings establish the perimeter in a wooded space that would have felt closed-in otherwise. During initial phases we left extra wire, allowing us to tie in additional phases such as bistro and underwater lighting as their needs developed over the years.
